Blackberry 10, BES 10, and Domino Traveler 9


Ensure that you have a working Traveler environment first with an SSL certificate that is trusted by the Blackberry devices. This can be accomplished by purchasing a certificate from a Certificate Authority or using a self signed certificate and adding it either manually by visiting the Traveler web site on the device or deploying it through the BDS server.
If upgrading from an earlier version of Traveler a URL redirection is required in the Web Config section of the domino server to map /servlet/traveler* to /traveler*

Limitations: 
  • Traveler 9.0.0 will not sync Memos and Todo: Blackberry KB33287. Traveler 9 was supposed to fix this but this fix will be in a later version
  • The Z10 requires at least OS 10.0.10.99 in order for the Add to Calendar button to work with meeting invites.
  • Both configs below need Session Authentication set, Both Single and Multi Server work, having an empty idle timeout keeps the end user from having to re-authenticate to Traveler every day or so. IBM has instructions here
  1. Blackberry 10 without BDS. This does not require a BES data plan
  2. Blackberry 10 with BDS 6.2. This does (Rogers says no, Blackberry says yes) require a BES data plan.

  • Blackberry 10 without BDS.
    1. On the Blackberry 10 device go to Settings
    2. Accounts
    3. Add Account
    4. Email, Calendar and Contacts
    5. Press the Advanced button instead of entering an email address
    6. Select Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync
      • Provide a Description
      • Leave Domain Blank
      • Enter your Web Mail (iNotes) username
      • Enter your email address
      • Enter your Web Mail (iNotes) password
      • Server Address:   yyy.zzz.com/traveler
      • Use SSL: On
      • Use VPN: Off
      • Push: On
    7. If your Traveler environment requires approval you'll now need to approve the device there.
    8. A basic work environment will now be set up including a working Web Browser
    9. Password policies can be set in the Traveler database on the Traveler server.
  • Blackberry 10 with BDS 6.2. 
    1. In MS Active Directory ensure that the email address field is populated.
    2. In BDS set up the following EMail profile:
      • Type: Activesync
      • Server name: yyy.zzz.com/traveler
      • Use SSL: Yes
      • Push Enabled: Yes
      • Days to synchronize: Whatever you wish
      • Interval: 15 minutes
      • Email sync: Yes
      • Calendar sync: Yes
      • Contact sync: Yes
      • Memo sync: Yes
      • Task sync: Yes
    3. In the user setup use the following account settings:
      • Override MS Active Sync: Yes
      • Account Name: iNotes Username
      • Email Address: Email Address
      • Domain: Blank
      • Username: iNotes Username
    4. Generate an activation email 
    5. On the Blackberry 10 device go to Settings
    6. Accounts
    7. Add Account
    8. Email, Calendar and Contacts
    9. Press the Advanced button instead of entering an email address
    10. Select Work Account
    11. Enter iNotes Username
    12. Enter Activation Password
    13. Enter SRP Address
    14. If your Traveler environment requires approval you'll now need to approve the device there.
    15. The Blackberry will connect via the Blackberry Infrastructure, routing through the Blackberry Dispatcher Service on the BDS server, and then connecting to Traveler.
